engagement sessions

congrats, you're engaged!

When my husband and I got married and I suggested an engagement session, he rolled his eyes so hard I thought they were gonna get stuck ;) And since then, I’ve had couples who get ALL into it, and couples who know they should “probably” do a session, but want to know WHY engagement sessions matter.

First - who doesn’t want beautiful photos that document that time as a couple before the wedding? Your world is full of possibility and opportunity, and an amazing journey is ahead of you. An engagement session is the perfect time to connect in the midst of the wedding planning craziness: laugh together, take a walk through a beautiful location, and have

let's capture that love and joy in a specially tailored engagement session

some gorgeous art to hang on your walls.

My clients have used their engagement photos as prints that guests sign at the wedding, for an actual guest book, save-the-dates, favors, invitations - you name it. And perhaps most importantly: it’s a great chance for us to connect before your wedding day. You’ll learn what it’s like to work together, but honestly - it won’t feel like work at all. We’ll just have a lot of fun walking and talking and laughing! By the end of the session, I promise you’ll be so relaxed in front of the camera, that you won’t even notice me on your wedding day :)

frequently asked questions

What’s required to book an engagement session?

Easy! If you’re a new client, just reach out using the contact form below, and I’ll send a proposal your way! Every session includes your edited digital images, print rights, and an online gallery. (And if you’re a wedding client, you already have an engagement session included in your wedding package. Just reach out and we’ll set a date)!

What’s the fee for a standalone engagement session?

The fee is $425 for sessions taking place within 30 minutes of Woodstock, CT. A deposit of 50% is required to reserve your date, and the balance must be paid in full three days prior to your session.

What should we wear to our session?

Whatever makes you feel comfortable and confident! Some couples prefer a couple of different looks for their session, and that’s absolutely fine - outfit changes are totally an option! There are no specific colors to avoid, except I do recommend staying away from super distracting prints. Otherwise, rock whatever you love!

Will our session take place if it rains?

If the weather is looking questionable, we’ll check in a day or two ahead and play it by ear. I love the option of beautiful sunlight for engagement sessions, but if we don’t have it, we can create our own light, or reschedule.

When will we receive our photos? How many will we get?

Engagement sessions last approximately 45 minutes to one hour, depending on the weather. Most sessions result in 25-30 images, though that number varies a bit. Your photos are usually ready within 2-3 weeks, but if you need your images sooner for a save-the-date or other wedding item, just let me know!

If you’re looking for a standalone session, let’s chat about documenting your story! I’m happy to provide options for available dates, locations, and answer any questions you have :) I’m generally available for engagements on weeknights, with limited availability on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. We’ll set a date and a rain date, and your session will take place within about 30 minutes of Woodstock, Connecticut. We have a GOR-GEOUS selection of locations for you to choose from (multiple spots are possible!), including vineyards, orchards, gardens, mansions, lakefronts, farms, forest…and a cozy downtown cafe. Other locations are available upon request. Get in touch, and let’s reserve your date. I can’t wait to work with you!
